Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a Patek Philippe Calatrava 5227G-010 for a while now. The thing is, the real deal is way out of my budget, you know? That’s when I thought, why not try to remake it myself? I mean, how hard could it be, right?

I found out the original has a 39mm case diameter and is about 9.24mm thick. It’s a pretty sleek watch. It seems like the original one is going for around $28,000 to $41,000 online. Also, the self-winding movement, I figured that would be the trickiest part to replicate.
Next, I started looking for parts. I found a white gold-looking case that was pretty close to the original’s size. It wasn’t easy, but I managed to find one that was also 39mm in diameter. For the movement, I decided to go with a cheap automatic movement I found online. I know, I know, it’s not the same as a Patek Philippe movement, but it does the job for now.
Assembling the watch
This was the fun part. I carefully put the movement into the case, attached the dial, and then the hands. I have to say, it was a bit nerve-wracking. Those tiny screws and delicate parts are not easy to work with! But, after a few hours of tinkering, I finally had something that resembled the Calatrava 5227G-010.
The Final Result

- Thickness: A bit thicker than the original 9.24mm, but not too noticeable.
- Movement: A generic automatic movement, not as fancy as the real thing, but it works.
