This here Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Chronograph, they call it. Fancy name for a watch, if you ask me. But my grandson, he’s always going on about these things. Says it’s a good one, a real keeper. He showed it to me in his book. Says it is a classic style. I don’t know about all that, but it does look shiny.
He says this one, this JLC Reverso, it flips! Can you believe it? The whole watch face just turns right over. Says it’s so you don’t break the glass. Back in my day, we just took our watches off if we were gonna be doing something rough. But these young folks, they like their fancy gadgets.

This Imitation Jaeger-LeCoultre, it’s s’posed to be like the real deal. My grandson says the real ones are worth a whole heap of money. More than our old cow, Bessie, that’s for sure! He says this Reverso Tribute Chronograph is like a copy, but a good one. I can’t tell the difference, they both tell the time. So I don’t know what’s the big problem. It’s just a watch.
He keeps going on about “movements” and “complications.” Sounds like a doctor talking, not a watchmaker! Just need to know if it’s time to feed the chickens or not.

Shiny and New, This Imitation Watch
They say this Imitation Jaeger-LeCoultre is a good investment. I don’t know about that, we always just put our money in the mattress. But he says these watches, they hold their value. Like gold, almost. Maybe he’s right, he’s a smart boy. But I still think gold is better. You can always use gold to buy something, but a watch is just a watch.
He showed me pictures, this JLC Reverso with jeans and sneakers. Looks kinda funny to me, like wearing your Sunday best to muck out the stalls. But he says it’s the style now. Young people and their styles, I’ll never understand.
Says this Reverso Tribute Chronograph is for “mature” people. Well, I’m mature, been mature for a long time! But I don’t need a fancy watch to tell me that. I got my wrinkles and my aching back to remind me every morning.
He thinks this Imitation Jaeger-LeCoultre JLC Reverso is part of a “collection.” Like stamps or those little porcelain dogs. Says you need two, at least. Two watches! What’s a body gonna do with two watches? One for each wrist, I suppose! This classic style is too much for me.

This here JLC Reverso, it’s s’posed to be a “sports” watch. Sports! Can you imagine? Playing sports with that fancy thing on your wrist. You’d be too worried about scratching it to even play. This classic style is not for working people, I think.
It was made way back in the day, he says. Nineteen thirty-one, I think he said. That’s before even I was born! They made it for some fancy game, polo or something. Horses and sticks and all that. Rich people’s games. We never had time for all that, need to work all day.

And if it makes my grandson happy, well, that’s all that matters, I reckon. He always wants this classic style. I don’t know why, but he is happy, so it is good.
Still, I think I’ll stick to my old Timex. It tells the time just fine, and I don’t have to worry about flipping it over or any of that nonsense. But these young folks, they like their fancy things. To each his own, I always say. To each his own. As long as they happy, I am happy, too. If they want this Imitation Jaeger-LeCoultre JLC Reverso Tribute Chronograph, then it is good for them.
