Okay, so I saw this Yves Saint Laurent LE CARRé SATCHEL BAG online, and I just had to try to remake it. I mean, who wouldn’t want a YSL bag, right? But the price tag? Ouch! So I thought, why not get crafty and make one myself? Here’s how it went down.
First things first, I started looking everywhere for inspiration. I’m not a designer or anything, but I figured, how hard could it be? I browsed through the official SAINT LAURENT website, soaking in all the details of the LE CARRé SATCHEL BAG. The design is so sleek and simple, it’s right up my alley. And then I saw some other bags from Saint Laurent, like the Le Maillon, which got me thinking about the details I wanted to include.
Then I hit up a bunch of online stores like Saks and Neiman Marcus to see more pictures and get a better feel for the bag. I noticed the bag is made from this soft Italian leather, and some have these cool croc-embossed patterns. The original looks so luxurious!
I also found some info about how the brand name changed from Yves Saint Laurent to Saint Laurent Paris back in 2012, and how they got this edgy vibe now. Pretty cool, but I was more focused on the bag itself.
Gathering Materials
Next, I needed to get all the materials. I’m not using real Italian leather, obviously, I tried to find something that looked and felt similar but was way cheaper. I also grabbed some coated canvas because I saw that mentioned for durability. I figured it’s not about making an exact replica, but more about capturing that YSL vibe, you know?
The Making Process
- I started by sketching out the design, just to get a rough idea of the size and shape.
- Then, I cut out the pieces from the leather and canvas. Let me tell you, cutting straight lines is harder than it looks!
- Sewing everything together was the real challenge. I don’t have one of those fancy industrial sewing machines, so I just used my regular one at home. It took forever, and I definitely messed up a few times.
- The hardest part was probably the flap and the closure. I wanted that clean, structured look, but it was tough to get it just right.
After a lot of trial and error, and a few late nights, I finally finished my version of the LE CARRé SATCHEL BAG! It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty proud of it. It’s got that boxy shape, a nice flap, and it even feels somewhat luxurious, if I do say so myself.
This whole project was way more work than I expected, but it was also super fun. Plus, now I have a cool bag that kinda looks like a YSL, and I didn’t have to spend a fortune. If you’re thinking about trying something like this, I’d say go for it! Just be prepared to put in some serious time and effort. And remember, it’s all about having fun and getting creative. You might surprise yourself with what you can come up with!
