Okay, so, I’ve been eyeing this Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Chronograph for a while now. I finally took the plunge and got my hands on one from this guy, and I’m gonna tell you all about it.

First off, I searched around online, trying to figure out how to tell if these things are real or not. There was a lot of stuff about serial numbers being on the movement, either on the back or under the dial. Some folks were saying the case might be made a year or two after the movement because they put them together later from a stock of finished movements. That seemed important, because, you know, if I’m dropping this kind of cash, I want the real deal. And I need this watch to be able to handle going from meetings to, like, weekend stuff with the family. It’s gotta be versatile, you know?

Then I stumbled on some forum, I can’t remember which, it might have been WatchUSeek, where people were talking about fakes on Chrono24. I mean, Chrono24’s supposed to be legit, but still, it makes you think. This one I found had the original papers, but no box. The seller seemed okay, but you never really know, right?

How I Checked if it Was Legit

I remembered reading that the LeCoultre cases might have a number engraved that you can use to check if it’s authentic. So that’s the first thing I looked for.

  • I carefully examined the case, and I found the number, right where it was supposed to be. This was a relief, man.
  • Next, I tried to check the serial number on the movement. It’s supposed to be on the back or under the dial, somewhere. It’s hard to tell, even with the pictures. But I can see it, it looks legit.
  • Then, I compared it to a bunch of pictures of real ones online. I mean, I really scrutinized those photos, looking at every little detail, the dial, the hands, everything. The movement seemed okay on mine, which was another good sign.

I also read some posts by guys who had bought pre-owned ones and were trying to figure out if they were real. That’s exactly what I was doing. It was tough to tell from just pictures, but it gave me some ideas of what to look for.

Honestly, it’s kind of a gamble buying something like this online. This guy wanted, like, 30 for it, and that’s a lot of money. But, after all that checking, I felt pretty good about it. The movement looked right, the case number was there, and it just had that quality feel, you know? It felt substantial, not like some cheap knock-off.

So yeah, that’s my story of getting this Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Chronograph. I think I got a good one. I hope I did, anyway! It’s a beautiful watch, and I’m pretty stoked to finally have it. I will keep checking it and will try to update more information later.
